The Leather hat has a Defence bonus of +2 and can be equipped by the Hero, Warriors, Mages, Priests, Merchants, Gadabouts, Thieves, and Sages. It can be purchased from Reeve, Romaria, and the Immigrant Town in its early stages for 80 gold and sold for 60 gold. Leather hats can be dropped by Antnibblers, Spiked hares, and Mermaniacs. One can be found in Romaria in a chest of drawers and another on the first Treasures n' Trapdoors board.

It can be purchased for 65 gold from Burland, Zalenagrad, Lakanaba, Laissez Fayre, and Casabranca, and sold for 47 gold. Tessie will sell it at Torneko's shop for 97 gold.

It can be purchased at Weaver's Peak of the Upper World, Haggleton, Somnia of the Upper World, and Port Haven for 65 gold and sold for 48 gold. barksmen have a 1⁄32 chance of dropping one.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past edit
The Leather hat has a Defence bonus of +3, a Style bonus of +2, and can be equipped by all characters. It can be purchased from Estard for 65 gold and sold for 32 gold. Some can be found in various locations, including Pilchard Bay, Ballymolly in the present, Regenstein, the Roamer Encampment in the past, Alltrades Abbey in the past, Gröndal in the past, El Magnífico Puente de Pomposo in the past, and Spilton-on-Sea. Leather hat can be won as a prize from the Lucky Panel at the Casino.
Leather hats can also be dropped by Crested vipers, Tongue fu masters, Oligarchaeopteryxes, Sky fries, and Pogoin' penguins.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined edit
The Leather hat increases defence by 3 and can be equipped by all party members. It can be purchased for 65 gold coins and sold for 32. They can be found in various locations like Pilchard Bay, Ballymolly (both in the past and in the present), as a reward in the Lucky Panel minigame in Pilgrim's Rest in the past. It is also dropped by Sky fries and Tongue fu masters.

The Leather hat has a Defence bonus of +3 and can be equipped by all characters. It is part of Yangus's initial equipment. The hat can be purchased for 65 gold in Farebury and sold for 33 gold. Beetleboys drop them rarely and Bunicornss, Dark sabrecatss, and High rollers drop them commonly. The hat can be upgraded into a Feathered cap or a Pointy hat with the Alchemy Pot.

Dragon Quest X edit
The Leather hat has a Defence bonus of +3, a Style bonus of +1, and increases the wearer's weight by 4. The hat can be equipped by various vocations and can be crafted with sewing. In the Offline version of the game, it can be equipped by the Hero as a Warrior, Priest, Martial Artist, Thief, Minstrel, Gladiator, Paladin, Armamentalist, Ranger, Luminary, Dancer, or Gadabout, as well as Hussar, Mjoll, Raguas, and Duston. It can be made with the Fun-Size Forge using the same recipe as before.
