The Sword of Light is a legendary sword forged by the reincarnation of the Luminary. Through the power of the Fun-Size Forge, it can be strengthened into the Supreme Sword of Light, the strongest version of the sword.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

The sword is obtained through the events of the game's second act, prior to the confrontation with Mordegon. It must be forged within The Crucible, a smithy hidden in the depths of Mount Huji (unlocked after completing the events in Hotto in both Act Two and postgame), and will require a specific and massive chunk of Orichalcum found only within The Battleground (in the Definitive Edition, it is called Rareified orichalcum). The tool necessary for the process is The Forging Hammer, owned by the Sultan of Gallopolis.

The Hero loses the sword when he travels back in time in postgame after smashing the Time Sphere in the Tower of Time, breaking the blade into pieces. However, the Sword of Light can be reforged again by collecting the same items again, and is one of the ingredients to forge the Supreme Sword of Light, the ultimate form of the blade.

The Sword of Light is an S-rank sword that can be acquired on the Japan-only limited 4th Anniversary Tower by clearing any of it's stages at least once. It has an HP bonus of +45, an Attack bonus of +30, raises the potency of all types of abilities, including Physical, Spell, Martial and Breath for Hero units by 5% and has three slots for Alchemy Effects.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The sword resembles a fusion of the Erdrick's sword and the Zenithian sword, with the guard and hilt of Erdrick's sword and the arrow-shaped blade of the Zenithian sword.
  • The sword is visually identical to the Supreme Sword of Light.
