Kafrizz is a spell in the series. It inflicts a heavy amount of Fire-elemental damage to a single enemy.

Localisation history[edit | edit source]

The Japanese spell Merazōma had previously been localised as Kafrizzle, as it had no higher-tier Frizz variant. However, with Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker and Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, the developers introduced Meragaiā (メラガイアー, Meragaiā?), the fourth-tier spell. To work around this, the English localisation renamed this spell to Kafrizz, and then using the name Kafrizzle for the newer spell. More recent translated works such as The Adventure of Dai and the HD-2D Remakes now use this newer naming convention.

Kafrizz is the third tier spell of Bianca and can be learned for 16 skill points, requiring her to already know Frizzle. It costs 13 MP to cast. After charging for three seconds, Bianca will shoot a huge fireball at the ground in front of her while she leaps backwards. Upon collision, Kafrizz causes a huge pillar of fire to erupt.

Dragon Quest Heroes II[edit | edit source]

Kafrizz also appears as the third tier spell of Maribel and now costs 15 MP to cast. It can be learned for 14 skill points once she is level 22 or above and has already learned Frizzle. Kafrizz can also be learned by Lazarel and Teresa at Heavy Wand proficiency level 14. Unlike Bianca's version, they will launch a huge fireball at a long range in front of them and the pillar of fire caused upon collision lasts around three seconds. It now tracks enemies, making it easier to cast than the previous game.

Dragon Quest Tact[edit | edit source]

Kafrizz can be learned by the Dragonlord at level 31, Popp at level 42, and costs 72 MP to cast. An Ability Scroll for it can be purchased through the Legend League Season 1 Medal Swap Shop. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit | edit source]

Kafrizz appears as the Hero's neutral special move in Smash Ultimate. It is the fully charged version of Frizz, and creates an explosive, multi-hit flame upon contact with an opponent for 36 MP. The first hit deals 19% damage, with each subsequent flare searing for 3% and totaling for 31% if all six fireballs connect with an opponent. Kafrizz has high knockback and deals excellent shield damage, but the ending lag the Hero suffers means he can be punished if he casts it at the wrong time.

Kafrizz appeared as a spell finisher for Popp and the Luminary Leader as a Mage. It inflicts magical Fire damage to all enemies in a wide area. The spell was unlockable by receiving the Magical Booster from limited Treasure Hunts.
