Cattle Prod is a spear ability in the series.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
This skill deals a high amount of damage to a monster of the Beast family and is normally performed with a spear. In some games, it also deals a small amount of extra damage to monsters of other families. Cattle Prod can be performed with any weapon in the HD-2D Remake games, like all other weapon abilities.

Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]
Cattle Prod costs 7 MP to use and deals 60% more damage than a normal attack to monsters of the Beast family, with all other monsters taking an extra 10% damage. It is already known by the Hero at the beginning of the game. The ability can be used with any weapon equipped.
- When the Hero's HP is below 50% or he is under the effects of Focus Pocus, the Souped-Up Skill Beast Bopper becomes available to use. The player must have the Soul Sigil in their possession to use it.

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]
Cattle Prod costs 7 MP to use and deals approximately 60% more damage than a normal attack to monsters of the Beast family. It is already known by the Prince of Midenhall at the beginning of the game. Once again, it can be used with any weapon equipped.
- When the Prince of Midenhall's HP is below 50% or he is under the effects of Focus Pocus, Beast Bopper becomes available to use. The player must have the Soul Sigil in their possession to use it.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]
Cattle Prod costs no MP to use and targets a single enemy, dealing 50% extra damage to monsters of the Beast family. It is learned by allocating 13 skill points into the Spear skill.

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]
Cattle Prod costs 1 MP to use, has a range of two meters, and deals 50% extra damage plus 5 to monsters of the Beast family. It can be learned by a Priest, Martial Artist, Paladin, Item Master, Guardian, and Storm Kaiser by investing 7 skill points into the Spears skill.
Dragon Quest X Offline[edit | edit source]
Cattle Prod costs 2 MP to use and inflicts 50% extra damage plus 5 to monsters of the Beast family, dealing 20% extra damage to all other monsters. It can be learned by the Hero as a Priest or Paladin, and Raguas through the Spears panel in their Character Builders. The extra damage inflicted to beasts can be increased further with Skill-Up Panels.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]
Cattle Prod costs 2 MP to use and deals 50% extra damage plus 5 to monsters of the Beast family. It can be learned by Serena and Jade through the Spears panel in their Character Builders for 3 skill points.
