The Cerberuff is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VII. These two-headed monsters are said to be the guard dogs of Hell.

Characteristics

Red-furred fiends formed with two heads that leap and bite at adventurers with surprising speed and strength, snapping with their strong jaws so quickly that they strike several times in a single turn. Perhaps due to their hellish origins, the hounds are considered part of the Undead family.

Trivia

• The Cerberuff and its pallet swaps are based on the two-headed dog Orthrus of Greek myth. The hound was the guard dog for the cattle pens of the giant Geryon, and was one of the offspring of the monsters Echidna and Typhon. It was slain by Hercules as part of the process of completing his Tenth Labor.
