Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below[edit | edit source]
Grannet is the fourth major location visited in the story, after visiting Sylvea. The party, now accompanied by Jessica and Yangus, decide to visit there to see if it is under attack from monsters like other places in the world. There at the tunnel that leads to the dwarven settlement, they encounter a horde of monsters led by groups of Mawkeepers and defeat them. They press on and discover another one of the World Tree's roots, which the monsters must be after. Another group of monsters advances, forcing the heroes to fight once again to keep the Yggdrasil root safe. The monsters are driven away from the root, but the dwarves are still nowhere to be seen. Further inside the depths of the caverns, the heroes encounter a young dwarven woman being protected from a group of monsters by two other young women—Bianca and Nera. The heroes decide to step in to prevent them from being overwhelmed by their numbers, introducing themselves after the battle. The young dwarven woman is Beryl, the Foreman's daughter, and the other two hail from a place called Mostroferrato, which no one else recognises. The group deduces then that the two young women are visitors from another world, as well.
The band of adventurers explain the current situation to Bianca and Nera, who decide to help out in order to reunite Beryl with her betrothed and her father, the Foreman. Bianca jokingly teases that it's sweet watching Luceus and Aurora bicker as they plan the next move. Aurora becomes flustered and insists that they're just friends who've known each other for a long time. With their newfound allies, the group sallies forth to locate the Foreman and Beryl's fiancé while driving back more monsters. During the fighting, Beryl asks Bianca and Nera why they've decided to help her. Nera explains that the two of them are expected to be married soon, causing Bianca to become bashful. The heroes manage to beat back the group of monsters, but still can't find the dwarven duo. Beryl offers to serve as a guide in the caverns while searching for them. They eventually make their way to the Sanctum at the very heart of Grannet, where the Foreman and Beryl's betrothed are about to be attacked by a Stone guardian. After a fierce battle, Beryl is reunited with her father and her fiancé. Both Bianca and Nera will then join the party.
