Hym the Pawn is a character from The Adventure of Dai. He is a member of Hadlar's Royal Guard, a group composed of 5 members made from orichalcum chess pieces. He is originally an antagonist, but he becomes an ally to the Disciples of Avan in the final confrontation with Vearn's forces.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Hym's body is made of Orichalcum, and given life with forbidden magic by Hadlar with the help of Vearn. His appearance is that of a bald, muscular man made from silvery metal of average height. He inherited Hadlar's passion and fighting spirit upon birth.
After inheriting Hadlar's will, he grows silver hair similar to his creator and starts developing light aura skills.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai[edit | edit source]
Hym is one of the five chess pieces given life and soul by Hadlar, and the one who inherited Hadlar's passion. He feels deep admiration for his master, and would do anything to protect the former dark commander.
Hym is a master of close-range combat, using his own martial arts techniques. The pawn can use Frizz type spells, however he does not cast them to attack, but to boost his own fists with the powerful Heat Knuckle.
Due to his body being made from orichalcum, he is extremely durable and immune to most spells. Only Medroa and aura skills such as Grand Cross can hurt him.
Being a pawn grants him the potential of promotion, which he uses unknowingly after his master's demise to gain a new form, with an appearance much closer to Hadlar's. In this new form Hym has long, silver hair like his master, and can imbue his fists with aura, making them much more powerful than before.
He has a strong rivalry with Hyunckel since the moment their paths cross, but they later becomes friends.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds[edit | edit source]
Hym was the last character added to the game prior to its end of service, only followed by another form for Dai. He can be recruited in Bonding Journey Chapter 1 after finishing Chapter 23 of Dragon Tracks.
Hym is a fast martial artist who specialises in Light damage. Although he has the ability to equip Claws, visually he still only performs hand-to-hand combat with his bare knuckles. His selection of armour includes fighter garbs, clothes, and large shields.
