The dieamend is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest III. It is a special stone that will negate the effect of an instant death spell for the holder. If a character is targeted by Whack or Thwack and possesses this stone in their inventory, the stone will take the instant death spell in place of the user, and shatters afterward. In some games, it is used as a crafting material instead and does not possess its instant death-cancelling properties.
