Blunt is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series. It decreases an enemy's attack by a significant amount.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]

Blunt is learned only by Mages at level 42 and reduces attack by 50% for 6~9 turns. It costs 8 MP to cast, and has a base accuracy of 75% if the caster's magical might is lower or equal to 50. Once the stat increases to 51, the spell will slowly rise in accuracy to a cap of 100% at 799 magical might.

Dark skeletons will cast Blunt against the party.

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

Rab and Veronica will learn Blunt at levels 34 and 36, respectively. The spell costs 6 MP to cast, and can reduce an enemy's strength by up to 50% for 4~6 turns when cast twice.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[edit | edit source]

Blunt reduces one monster's attack by 50% for 2~5 turns. It cannot be cast twice to enhance the effect and has a base success chance of 80%, which will rise to 100% at 3,999 wisdom. Blunt is learned through the Enfeebler, Enigma, Hexcommunicator, and Splash Afficionado talents.

Dragon Quest Treasures[edit | edit source]

Blunt is learned by drackies, marble slimes, and silhouettes. It costs 5 MP to cast and targets one foe.

Dragon Quest Tact[edit | edit source]

Blunt is known naturally by Alarmour and Stump champ at level 1 and can be learned by She-slime at level 16. It costs 9 MP to cast, has a range of three squares away from the caster, and greatly lowers a single target's ATK for 3 turns. It can also be taught to any unit by using an ability scroll.
