ジバリア and the related spells were first translated into English in 2017 with DQH2, where they were referred to as Rubblerouser, Boulderbringer, Mountainmover, and Ridgeraiser respectively. This naming convention continued into DQ11, but would be switched out for the series standard ka- and -le prefix and suffix scheme in DQTreasures in 2022 when ジバリア was localized as Crag.

The use of the Crag name would continue into DQM3, meaning that there are two concurrent English localizations for the earth spell line. As such, this article will cover the instances in which the Crag name is used over Rubblerouser and for games that have not been translated.

Crag is an Earth-element spell that sets a magic circle below an enemy and damages them over a series of turns by suddenly generating a rocky spire beneath them. It is related to the more powerful Craggle, Kacrag, and Kacraggle spells.

Localization history[edit | edit source]

ジバリア and the related spells were first translated into English in 2017 with Dragon Quest Heroes II, where they were referred to as Rubblerouser, Boulderbringer, Mountainmover, and Ridgeraiser respectively. This naming convention continued into Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, but would be switched out for the series standard ka- and -le prefix and suffix scheme in Dragon Quest Treasures in 2022 when ジバリア was localized as Crag, and continues onwards this way.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest X[edit | edit source]

Crag can be learned by Thieves at level 15 and Rangers at level 12, casting it for 4 MP. It creates a circle on the ground that erupts after 10 seconds have passed, dealing 18~24 earth-element damage to all enemies within range. The damage range is fixed and is not affected by the caster's magical might.

 • In the Offline version of the game, it can be learned by the same vocations at the same levels and is already known by Duston when he joins the party. Due to the change in battle system, Crag will activate at the end of the next turn after it is cast, dealing 18~24 earth-element damage to all enemies.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

Erik learns Rubblerouser at level 10, and it costs 6 MP to cast. It will cause damage to an enemy just before they take action for three turns, dealing 7~13 base damage and reaching 33~39 once the former thief's magical might hits 85.

 • In the 3DS version, the spell activates at the very beginning of the round, independent of turn order.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key[edit | edit source]

The spell costs 4 MP and deals 14~15 Earth damage to all enemies at the start of the next turn cycle after being cast. Once the monster's wisdom reaches 499, it will deal 71~78 damage.

The spell has the same attributes as in the previous game.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[edit | edit source]
