'''Magic water''' is a rather rare healing item in the {{DQSeries}}. As the vials were originally only found in [[treasure chest]]s and occasionally dropped by {{MFamilies}}s, it is important to stockpile them for the most dangerous segments of a journey, such as when the [[party]] has reached the lowest level of the dungeon with the knowledge that a potentially deadly boss is up ahead.

In modern titles, these glass bottles are far less rare, usually even purchasable near the end-game in more mystical locations. This change in scarcity is likely to reflect the substantial stat limit boosts characters have experienced since {{VI}}.

In the original {{NES}} version of the game, sipping the scintillating water will restore 10~15 {{MP}}. In all other versions, it restores 30~35 {{MP}} and can be used on allies. Vials of Magic water can be purchased from [[Endor]]'s [[Casino]] for 30 [[token]]s each. They can also be dropped by [[Bedbug]]s, [[Flyguy]]s, [[Dirty dogu]]s, [[Mushroom mage]]s, and [[Dangler fish]].

The water restores 10~15 {{MP}} in all versions of the game. In remake versions of the game, it can be purchased from the shop on [[Pontoon and Ventuno|Ventuno]]'s TnT Board for 120 {{Gold}} and sold for 60 {{Gold}}. They can be dropped by [[Prestidigitator (Dragon Quest V)|Prestidigitator]]s, [[Legerdeman (Dragon Quest V)|Legerdemen]], [[Wisp-o'-smoke|Wisps-o'smoke]], [[Wizened wizard]]s, [[Revaulting horse]]s, [[Wyrtoise]]s, [[Dwight]], and [[Magman]].

When used in battle the water will restore the typical 10~15 {{MP}}, but while on the move it will restore 40~50 {{MP}}. Magic water appears once again as a [[Casino]] prize in [[Port Haven]] for 200 [[token]]s each.

Once again, they can be purchased as a [[Casino]] prize at [[Pilgrim's Rest]] for 200 [[token]]s each. It can also be won as a prize from the Lucky Panel starting from the [[Casino]] at [[Pilgrim's Rest]] in the present. In the original [[Sony PlayStation]] version, Magic water can be purchased from the Cathedral evolution of [[The Haven|Immigrant Town]] for 200 {{Gold}} and sold for 100. They can also be dropped by [[Clawcerer]]s, [[Shaman]]s, [[Conkjurer]]s, and [[Dirty dogu]]s. In the {{3DS}} version, they can also be found regularly in [[treasure chest]]s and dropped by bosses in [[Traveller's Tablet]]s.

Magic water has received a small boost to its potency, restoring 30~35 {{MP}}. However, the water is much more useful as an [[List of alchemy recipes in Dragon Quest VIII|alchemy ingredient]]. It can be made in the [[Alchemy Pot]], but it is not practical to do so as it requires [[Seed of magic|Seeds of magic]]. Magic water can be purchased from both [[Tryan Gully]] and the [[Dragovian Sanctuary]] for 300 {{Gold}} and sold for 150. They can also be purchased from the [[Casino]] in [[Pickham]] for 100 [[token]]s each. It can be dropped by [[Crème caraslime]]s,

[[Frostburn]]s, [[Hellstalker]]s, [[Lost soul]]s, [[Mud mannequin]]s{{tt|*|3DS only}}, [[Peeper]]s, [[Phantom swordsman|Phantom swordsmen]], and [[Winky|Winkies]].

In the [[Nintendo 3DS]] version, vials of Magic water can be found regularly in the blue [[treasure chest]]s that can be found in the overworld.

Magic water once again restores around 30~35 {{MP}} to a single ally. It can be purchased for 500 {{Gold}} in [[Porth Llaffan]], [[Slurry Quay]], [[Dourbridge]], [[Bloomingdale]], [[Gleeba]], [[Batsureg]], [[Swinedimples Academy]], [[Wormwood Creek]], and [[Upover]] and sold for 250 {{Gold}} or can also be found on the [[Snowberia#Cringle Coast|Cringle Coast]]. Vials can be found in the [[Tower of Trades]] and the [[Heights of Loneliness]].  

Magic water also has a 5% chance of being found in [[List of treasure map treasure chest ranks in Dragon Quest IX|Rank 1]] blue [[treasure chest]]s and a 15% in Rank 4 and 5 blue [[treasure chest]]s. They can be dropped by [[Firespirit]]s, [[Lunatick]]s, [[Jinkster]]s, and [[Magus|Magi]]. One vial of Magic water is required to complete both [[Template:DQIXQuest/8|Quest #8]]: Don't Cry Over Spilt Ink and [[Template:DQIXQuest/48|Quest #48]]: A Task for a Cask and three are required to complete [[Template:DQIXQuest/23|Quest #23]]: Research Assistant.

Known as '''Potion''' in this game, it restores 20~30 {{MP}} to a single monster. It can be picked up from the ground regularly in various [[Teleportal]]s. Potions can also be purchased from the Bazaar for 200 {{Gold}}.

Magic water appears as stage power-ups and can be dropped by various {{MFamilies}}s or found in pots or barrels. They restore around 30 {{MP}} when picked up to whichever character the player is controlling. Since Magic water does not carry over between levels, it should be used as needed.
