The '''Hocus chimaera''' is a monster in the series.

 

Hocus chimaeras are monsters with the heads and wings of [[Bird family|vultures]], while having the lower bodies of serpents. In some games, they have slightly reddish bodies with golden feathers on their wings and around their necks. In most appearances, they have brown plumage with lighter brown on their undersides and heads. They are higher level evolutions of [[Chimaera|chimaeras]] that have gained some spellcasting ability. The hocus chimaeras also occasionally augment this by breathing fire, as well.

Hocus chimaera appeared from the beginning of the game. They maintain their ability to cast [[Midheal]] from their last 2 appearances, and can cast [[Snooze]] for the first time since their debut and [[Fuddle]] for the first time since ''III''. It is possible for players to change the appearance of a [[chimaera]] monster companion to that of a hocus chimaera's with a colour-changing ticket.
