The Mandrake marshal is a monster in the series.
Characteristics
Mandrake marshals are bipedal dragon swordsmen with yellow scales, large wings on their backs, and curved horns on their heads. They wield curved sabres in their right hands and bucklers in their left hands. Starting with Dragon Quest X, mandrake marshals now have duller yellow scales and pale green horns on their heads to differentiate them from mandrake mercenaries. They are elite dragon warriors that are skilled in both swordplay and magic. Their Japanese name comes from the German word "Springer", which is the term for a knight chess piece.
