The Fright bulb is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest XI. They are botanical slimes that resemble freshly sprouted shoots, lacking the ripe red coloration and flower of the Bite bulbs. Their namesake is a reference to the mythical mandrake plant, which would let loose an ear-splitting scream when uprooted.
