Kafizzle is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series, introduced in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker. It attempts to seal the spells of a group of enemies, rather than a single target.

Localization History

The Japanese spell Mahotōn has been used as the name for Fizzle throughout the series history. However, the Monsters: Joker series of games introduced a single-target version of the spell by the name of Mahotomu. The localization team decided to use the name Fizzle for the single-target version of the spell and applied the Kafizzle name for the older Mahotōn, which has been a multitarget spell in most games throughout the series. This practice has since become standard for titles that feature both spells.

Appearances
