==Localisation History==
The Japanese spell ''Baikiruto'' has been used as the name for Oomph throughout the series history. The ''Monsters: Joker'' series of games introduced the ''Baishion'' spell, which would raise the Attack of the entire party by one stage. However, starting with ''X'', ''Baishion'' became a single-target spell that would raise a target's Attack by one stage, while the old spell ''Baikiruto'' would raise a character's attack by two stages. In the English localization of ''Joker'', Oomphle was used as the multitarget spell, while Oomph was kept as the single-target spell. In ''XI'', the name Oomph was used for the spell ''Baishion'', while Oomphle would now be used for ''Baikiruto''. The English version of ''Tact'' complicated this further by using the name [[Partyboost]] for ''Baishion'', while Oomph was used for ''Baikiruto'' once again.
This spell was originally named Oomph. With later games, they added バイシオン ''Baishion'' which ended up functioning as a lower-tier variant, so this spell got renamed Oomphle.
However, when ''Baishion'' was added in {{DQMJ}}, it was more treated as a multi-target alternative and not as a lower-tier, and as such ''Baikiruto'' was still Oomph, and ''Baishion'' was Oomphle. When ''Baishion'' was added back in mainline numbering starting with {{DQ10}}, it got its position of a lower-tier version of ''Baikiruto'', and ended up being Oomph, and this spell becoming Oomphle.
Also, in cases where only this spell is present without the other one (like in {{DQ3HD}}), it may still be referred to as Oomph.
