For the Dragon Quest IV enemy formerly localized as "Orc", see Pickayune.
The Orc is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest II. It is pig-headed monster wearing a green tunic and wield a spear. Their fur and clothing are dyed new colors as they advance upwards in their species' society, creating some putridly porcine pigment permutations.
Orcs are anthropomorphic boars that dress in simple green clothing and carry spears as weapons. Contrary to common depictions in fantasy literature, movies, and video games that originated from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings series of books, the orcs of Dragon Quest are boar beastmen rather than green-skinned humanoids. In their original appearances, the orcs actually lacked their signature spears, choosing to fight barehanded, but eventually gained them back in remake versions of II and later games. The beasts even added Multithrust as part of their offense.
These hulking hogs take their training seriously, and practise Multithrust about a million times a day. But despite this diligence, the wild boar blood in their veins means they're far from mild-mannered.
Orc appears as a D-rank monster of the Beast family. It can be recruited from Chapters 3-3, 4-3, 7-2, 9-3, 9-7, 11-2, 12-1, and 12-6, as well as the Orc King Fortuneteller stage from The Beastliest Beast of Bravas Qualifiers during the limited Beast Fest event at any difficulty. The orc can participate in Brownie, Kon the Knight, Dark sabrecub, and Jade's Battle Roads as a party member.
