Gotha (グランバニア, also romanized as Granvania, Glanvania, or Granbania) is a both a castle town and a kingdom in Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride. The castle is surrounded by thick forests and impassable mountains and is located south of a lake which empties into the ocean.

Gotha is the home town of King Pankraz, and therefore the birthplace of The Hero as well. During the second generation of, the hero returns to Gotha and claims the throne.

Kingdom of Gotha

Each King of Gotha must pass a trial in the nearby Riteof Passage to prove their worth before they are allowed to ascend the throne. Gotha's monarchs include Pankraz and the hero from Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride.
