The Silver mail has a Defence bonus of +40 and can be equipped by the Hero, the Hero's son, Tuppence, Slime knight, Restless armour, Blizzybody, Warhog, Moosifer, Pip fighter, Conkuistador, and Revaulting horse. It can be purchased at Helmunaptra, Battenburg, and Gotha for 4,800 gold and sold for 2,400 gold.

The Silver mail has a Defence bonus of +43, a Style bonus of +40, and reduces damage taken from Frizz, Sizz, Bang, Crack, and Woosh spells by 8 points. It can be equipped by the Hero, Carver, Amos, Terry, and Goowain. It can be purchased for 6,300 gold at Clearvale of the Upper and Lower Worlds, Felonia, Turnscote, and can be sold for 4,725 gold. The silver mail has a 1⁄128 chance of being dropped by Berzorkers. Its Style bonus can be bolstered to +70 after being reworked at the Fashion Forge for 4,000 gold.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]
The Silver mail has a Defence bonus of +43, a Style bonus of +40, and reduces damage taken from Frizz, Sizz, Bang, Crack, and Woosh spells by 20 points. It can be equipped by the Hero, Kiefer, and Aishe. It can be purchased for 9,100 gold from Wetlock in the present, Providence, Nottagen, and Hubble in the present and sold for 4,550 gold. It can be won as a prize from the Lucky Panel at the Casino.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, the silver mail no longer offers protection against Woosh spells. It can also be received as a reward for completing a custom Traveller's Tablet with either a Knightshade or a Decayurion as the boss.

The recipe book Secrets of the Silversmiths contains the recipe for the silver mail. It is found in a treasure chest in Phnom Nonh behind a door that requires the Magic key to open.
Dragon Quest Tact[edit | edit source]

The Silver mail is A-rank armour that can be purchased from the Silver Week Swap Shop for 100 medals each. It has a DEF bonus of +16 and increases resistance against Blind by 8%. The mail can only be equipped by Attack and Defence units and has three slots for Alchemy Effects.
