Characteristics edit

The item art for the chain mail includes a long sleeveless shirt made out of interlocking chains, also known as a byrnie or hauberk, as well as a set of metal pauldrons and a gorget that goes around the wearer's neck and shoulders. Worn around the waist is a metal belt. In some illustrations, the chain mail has longer sleeves or is worn over a long-sleeved grey tunic. It is a low to mid-ranking piece of armour that provides an adequate amount of protection for its price.

Trivia edit

  • The original Japanese name for Chain mail, Kusari katabira (くさりかたびら), refers to the Japanese term for mail armour that was used by samurai and their retainers in feudal Japan. However, the item art throughout the series history clearly depicts western chain mail that was used in Medieval Europe.
