The island of Furrowfield (モンゾーラ島, Monzora shima?, lit. Monzora Island) is one of the main locations in Dragon Quest Builders 2. When the player first sets foot upon the island it is festering away, with crumbling infrastructure, pools of fetid water, and nutrient-deprived soil as far as the eye can see.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 edit

Furrowfield is the first island that the Builder and Malroth sail to under the instruction of the Hairy Hermit. The people of the land are malnourished and incapable of tilling the land thanks to the strict enforcement of the Children of Hargon's laws against cultivation. However, a young woman named Rosie wants to restore the fields into flourishing farmland and enlists the Builder's aid. Figuring that cultivation cannot take place in voided soil, Rosie and the Builder enlist the help of a friendly earthworm that goes by the name of Wrigley, one of the members of the long-lost wiggly tribe. A long time ago, the fat rats, bodkin archers, wigglies and humans made an agreement to be peaceful and to help each-other in times of need - however, the wiggly tribe was banished by the Children when they terrorized Furrowfield for the first time, due to their soil-cleaning abilities. Wrigley uses this ability to help the Builder aerate the soil and revitalize patches of peat, which are then turned into tilling fields for more crop. More residents are won over thanks to the delicious crops the trio begin to harvest, and the attention of a priest of the Children of Hargon named Al takes notice of the abandonment of the cult's teachings.

Instead of obliterating the heretics, Al is won over by the enthusiasm of Rosie and guides the group along with tasks to push their skills to new heights under the false pretense of waiting for more development to take place in order to make the destruction of the farm more satisfying. This does not go unpunished by the leader of the island, a colossal Brainy Badboon, and the Deitree goes down along with the Pastor. However, the Builder does not let this crush their spirits, and they decide to build a new Deitree. They find out that the ancient builder of long past had also built the old Deitree, and looking at its ruins inspires them to create a blueprint for their new one. Upon its completion, the Brainy Badboon is enraged and they engage in battle, the farmers triumphing. The badboon drops a leaf of life and the Builder combines it with the five other crops of Furrowfield to create the water of life, pouring it on top of the Deitree. This makes the tree grow a huge crown of leaves, hollow on the inside, and purifies all of the Furrowfield Farm soil. When Furrowfield farm has been restored to full vitality, Rosie and a handful of farmers travel with the Builder and Malroth to the Isle of Awakening.

  • On Furrowfield's island icon, the Old Deitree island is hidden behind a tree and all three Chromatic Cays are partially obscured by clouds.
  • Upon defeat of the Brainy Badboon, a cutscene shows parts of Furrowfield being restored. However, no part of Furrowfield outside of Furrowfield Farm is affected by the Deitree's power.
