Barbatos is one of Psaro the Manslayer's top generals and guards one of the four towers that maintain the barrier surrounding Castle Nadiria. He is a powerful spell caster, and with the exception of Aamon, possesses the most powerful magical capabilities of the four. His dialogue indicates that he is loyal to Psaro. Barbatos has the upper body of a solidly-built human man with a large pair of wings on his back, a huge pair of curved horns on his head, and pointed ears, while his lower body is that of a goat. His skin is light blue and his hair and the fur on his lower half is indigo or purple, depending on the game. He has a forked beard and the horns on his head are bronze-colored. When Barbatos reappeared in VII, he had tan-colored skin with brown fur on his lower half and grey hair and horns instead of the normal coloration.

Etymology
Barbatos is the name of a duke of hell described in the Lesser Key of Solomon, being described as a humanoid who can speak with animals, conciliates rulers, and predict the future. The demon's name is derived from the Latin Barbatus, meaning "Bearded". The localization team did their demonological homework, as this perfectly describes the monster.
