The Bongo drongo is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest XI. It is a monster percussionist that gives lively performances with their animated drum.
Characteristics
Bongo drongos are rotund green-skinned djinn or ghost-like spirits with a large living wooden drum strapped to the front of their bodies with a white rope belt. They have solid yellow eyes, pointy ears, and a tendril on top of their heads and they move about by levitating. The drummer's attire consists of a small red vest, red wristbands, and a rope belt tied behind their head that holds their drum in place. Their drums have small yellow eyes and display a huge open smile with their jagged mouths, being much more animated than their players. The bongo drongos can be seen performing for their fellow monsters.
