Characteristics
Goodybags are anthropomorphic burlap sacks with a cartoonish face, their tongues lolling out, which are surrounded by various treasures and jewelry that hover in midair. They specialise in casting disruptive magic, such as Fizzle and Fuddle, combining with their Agility and evasiveness to make them bothersome monsters to face. Being bags of treasure, they are also prone to dropping a considerable amount of gold and occasionally high price items.
Recent titles have shown goodybags to have erratic speech, indicated by random capitalisation. This is illustrated especially well in Fortune Street and Rocket Slime, where parts of their text may also be colored red or blue in addition to the standard black.
Appearances
Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
*The goodybag is also one of the forms that the Rotten egg will become when hatched.
Boss
*Two goodybags accompany Grody Gumpdrops in the Grody Grotto near Greenthumb Gardens in the past. They do minimal damage when attacking, but use a variety of debilitating effects against the party. Having the Hero and/or Ruff equipped with boomerangs can make the battle go faster. As always, Kiefer should use Focus Strength and Flame Slash combo, while Maribel casts Sap on the Grody Gumpdrops twice. The player may wish to take out the goodybags first due to their lower HP and to prevent them from casting Kasap on the party.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
- During Quest #33: Lady of the Dance, the player must go to the Iluugazar Plains and seek out the legendary belly-dancing teacher, who happens to be a goodybag. Defeat goodybags in battle and eventually one of them will teach the Hero how to perform a belly dance.
Dragon Quest X
Goodybag appeared from the beginning of the game. Like before, they are able to perform a Sultry Dance and can waste their turn by smiling, as well as call for backup from Jinksters, along with casting Kasap and Fuddle. Starting with Version 2.1, Item Masters are able to recruit them as monster companions.

Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
Goodybags appear as rare monsters in the game, capable of appearing in all areas except Forewood Forest and the Flying Clawtress. They only appear in specific rooms, and only appear rarely at that, scampering away once they spot the player and may attempt to escape with Zoom if they are not captured or defeated quickly enough. Because of this, they can be seen as parallels to metal monsters in other titles since these monsters do no appear as enemies in the game. Because Experience points are not used in Rocket Slime, goodybags will instead drop large amounts of gold (in the form of treasures) when struck and often drop lucky bags containing valuable materials when defeated.
In tank battles, the goodybag will use Zoom to infiltrate the enemy tank and return on-foot with a stolen piece of ammo. It is incredibly swift, but is prone to getting stuck if enemies repeatedly get in its way.
Slime MoriMori Dragon Quest 3: Daikaizoku to Shippodan
Goodybags can be found rarely in both Necropolis and Shiveral. They act similarly to how they act in Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime, rarely appearing when continuously entering and exiting rooms, dropping money when attacked. 10 are needed to recruit as a crew member and complete their request. As a crew member, goodybags will teleport and steal ammo, however, goodybags is seen as a poor crew member due to its tendency to stay on the enemy ship for long periods of time as well as running into spikes and killing itself. goodybags has 5 HP and a capacity of 1 ammo. Its description reads: "A rare but valuable discovery, these thieves are full of treasure."
