A simple wooden lid of a pot that serves as a makeshift shield for minimal protection. It can usually be equipped by most characters and vocations, especially those who cannot carry heavier shields.

The Pot lid provides a Defence bonus of +2 and can be equipped by Bianca, Nera, the Daughter, Harry, Sancho, Slime, Healslime, Metal slime, {{Liquid metal slime R}, Cureslime, King slime, King cureslime, Man o' war, Dracky, Fat rat, Fandangow, Ticking timeburrm, Funghoul, Walking corpse, and Rockbomb. It is part of Bianca's initial equipment as a child. The shield can be purchased for 40 gold at Roundbeck and sold for 20 gold. One can be found in a pot at Whealbrook and another at Fortuna. It has a 1⁄16 chance of being dropped by Minidemon.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation edit
The Pot lid has a Defence bonus of +2, but reduces Style by 20, and can be equipped by the Hero, Carver, Milly, Ashlynn, Nevan, Goober, Healie, Spot, Kingsley, Curie, Shelley, and Mercury. It can be purchased for 100 gold from Haggleton during the first Bazaar and sold for 30 gold. One can be found later in a barrel at Weaver's Peak of the Lower World. It has a 1⁄128 chance of being dropped by Yabby.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past edit
The Pot lid has a Defence bonus of +2, but reduces Style by 20, and can be equipped by the Hero, Maribel, Ruff, and Sir Mervyn. It can be purchased for 40 gold at Pilchard Bay and Estard and sold for 20 gold. One can be found at Aeolus Vale in the past in a treasure chest requiring the Thief's key to open. It has a 1⁄64 chance of being dropped by Chargoyle, and a 1⁄128 chance of being dropped by Urnexpected and Very devil.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, it has a 1⁄16 chance of being dropped by Minidemon and a 1⁄128 chance of being dropped by Tun of fun. It can also be received as a reward by clearing a custom Traveller's Tablet with a Magic marionette as the boss.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined edit
The Pot lid has a Defence bonus of +2, reduces Charm by 20, and has a Block Chance of +5%. It can be equipped by the Hero, Maribel, Ruff, and Sir Mervyn. It is part of Ruff's initial equipment. The shield can be purchased for 40 gold at Pilchard Bay, Estard, and Ballymolloy in the past and sold for 20 gold. The pot lid is a 1♦ prize from the Lucky Panel at Pilgrim's Rest in the past.

The Pot lid has a Defence bonus of +2 and can be equipped by Yangus and Angelo, as well as Morrie and Red in the Nintendo 3DS version. It can be purchased for 40 gold from Peregrin Quay and sold for 20 gold. It has a 1⁄16 chance of being dropped by Cannibox and a 1⁄32 chance of being dropped by Mecha-mynah. The pot lid can be mixed in the Alchemy Pot to create a Leather shield.
