Needle Shot is a bow ability in the series.

Characteristics edit

This ability attempts to instantly kill a single enemy with an arrow by targeting their vitals. However, if it fails, it will only deal 1 point of damage, making it similar to the Poison needle weapon.

  • In Dragon Quest Heroes II, Needle Shot shoots an arrow that deals low damage, but has a high chance of landing a critical hit instead of causing instant death.

Appearances edit

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King edit

GameDescription

Capable of felling an enemy instantly if a vital area is hit.[1]

Needle Shot costs 1 MP to use and has a 1⁄16 (6.25%) of instantly killing a single enemy; if the instant death does not succeed, it will only deal a single point of damage. The success rate is based on the monster's resistance to Whack. Therefore, if a monster is immune to Whack, the ability will always fail. It can be learned by Angelo by investing 25 skill points into his Bow skill. Once Angelo has investing 100 skill points into the Bow skill, it will upgrade into Needle Rain.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies edit

Needle Shot costs 1 MP to use and has a 1⁄8 (12.5%) chance of instantly killing a single enemy. Once again, it will only deal 1 point of damage if it does not succeed. In this game, it is able to effectively deal damage to metal slimes. Needle Shot can be learned by investing 35 skill points into the Bow skill.
