The Golden goliath is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest XI. It is a golden variant of the ordinary Gigantes, being a club-wielding cyclops whose body and weapon are made entirely from gold.
Golden goliaths are enormous brutes that wear simple tunics that only go over their right shoulders of the same kind stereotypically worn by cavemen, held with a belt around their waist. Its entire body, garment, and the enormous clubs held in their hands are all made of solid gold. Their gold bodies grant them a high degree of resistance against most attack spells except for darkness magic. The goliaths can hammer into the earth with their mighty clubs, driving up jagged rock pillars that spear into their opponents.
Golden goliath appears as an A-rank monster of the Demon family as part of the 3.0 Update Festival's Back to the Golden Sands limited event alongside Gyldygga on her banner. It can participate in the Gold lion's Battle Road as a party member.
In the Book of Samuel of the Hebrew Bible, Goliath is a character that is described as a Philistine giant, who was famously defeated by the young David in single combat with nothing more than a stone from his sling. The term "goliath" has gone on to be used in modern English as any large person or thing, something that is abnormally large or powerful.
