Pandora's boxes are fearsome monsters that disguise themselves as treasure chests made out of black wood with gold borders. Their mouths are filled with razor-sharp fangs, inside of which sides a set of yellow eyes and a long teal tongue. Like the other treasure chest monsters, it frequently has the ability to act more than once per turn, perform desperate attacks with their bites, and send adventurers to the hereafter with instant death spells. They can also use their sweet breath to put opponents to sleep or drain their magic power.
The name Pandora's box originates from Greek mythology as a container said to hold all the evils that were loosed upon mankind with the exception of hope. Their description in some modern games even make reference to the myth, as well.

NOTE:The boss version of the pandora's box that is fought in the Temple of Trials has no resistance to banishment, meaning the best way to finish it off is to cast Poof and Blasto as often as possible.
Like a demented jack-in-the-box, this well-camouflaged monster lives to surprise unwary travellers. Often carries precious materials that can be used in the alchemy pot.
Much like in the previous game, Pandora's boxes disguise themselves as blue treasure chests in high-level areas. As always, it has the ability to land Desperate attacks on characters and this time around, has the ability to cast Kathwack.
Unlike the other treasure chest monsters, there is no limit to how many times a Pandora's box can be fought as they can be summoned repeatedly by Overweening Pride. However, they are only guaranteed to drop seeds of skill from the scripted encounters.
Greed, envy, sloth, pride...You name the sin, this barbarous box likely once contained it. Those unfortunate enough to encounter it will have a hard time believing there's any hope hidden in its depths.

Pandora's box appears as an A-rank monster of the Inorganic family as part of the original Dragon Quest VII event, appearing on both Maribel and Ruff's banners. It could eventually be scouted from any limited banner, as well. The Pandora's box can participate in Kiefer's Battle Road as a party member. As of the most recent update in the Japanese version, it can be scouted from any banner, including the Regular SP Scout.
