The Hocus chimaera is a monster in the series.

Characteristics

Hocus chimaeras are monsters with the heads and wings of vultures, while having the lower bodies of serpents. In some games, they have slightly reddish bodies with golden feathers on their wings and around their necks. In most appearances, they have brown plumage with lighter brown on their undersides and heads. They are higher level evolutions of chimaeras that have gained some spellcasting ability. The hocus chimaeras also occasionally augment this by breathing fire, as well.

They maintain their ability to cast Midheal from their last 2 appearances, and can cast Snooze for the first time since their debut and Fuddle for the first time since III. It is possible for players to change the appearance of a chimaera monster companion to that of a hocus chimaera's with a colour-changing ticket.
