The Gargoyle is a monster in the series.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Gargoyles are flying monsters with a large pair of leathery, bat-like wings on their back, a pair of blue horns on their heads, and bird-like beaks. They have light teal skin and wear purple tunics, brown leggings, and a pair of blue gloves and boots. In remake versions of Dragon Quest II, the gargoyles have grey skin, have purple tunics, and wear yellow gloves and boots instead. The winged nuisances stay aloft in midair with their wings, wielding swords in their right hands and having the ability to seal away the magic of adventurers with Fizzle. Gargoyles often serve as aerial scouts and foot soldiers in the armies of more powerful Demon Lords.

Gargoyle began appearing in Version 2.0. It is able to cast Snooze and Fizzle, as well as a pouncing attack when it is enraged.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai[edit | edit source]
Gargoyles frequently appear in the series as Hadlar's guards and as scouts in the Dark Army. They are the first of the Dark Lord's monsters that Dai faces on Dermline Island, demonstrating their Fizzle spell to seal away Popp's magic. There are several individual gargoyles seen, with English letters written on their foreheads and tunics.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart[edit | edit source]
The Gargoyle is a three-star member of the Beast family with a weight of 3. It naturally learns BoltSlash, EerieLite, and ChargeUp. Its in-game description reads "It's always flying because it has lousy footwork."
