Strathbaile is a town in Dragon Quest IV.

Synopsis
It is located in the north of Burland, and has recently experience a rash of child abductions.
In Chapter 1, Ragnar is called upon to track down Strathbaile's missing children (including the innkeeper's son), who have all disappeared under unknown circumstances. In Chapter 5, the town's inhabitants witness Rose's psychic cries for help every night in the form of dreams; the party can experience them as well by staying at the local inn.

In the remakes, an additional dream sequence is viewable in Chapter 6; it is a quick summary of Psaro and Rose's love affair, followed by a vague hint direct the player to proceed to Gottside for the aftergame.

In DQ4 Chapter 1, Ragnar McRyan is called upon to track down Strathbaile's missing children (including the innkeeper's son), who have all disappeared under unknown circumstances. After encountering a confused man named Angus who was imprisoned for stealing bread, Ragnar learns that he was mentally regressed back to his childhood after witnessing a group of MFamiliess spiriting away children in the forest east of the town. After accompanying Aigneas, the man's wife, to Strathbaile and restoring Angus' memories, Ragnar explores the depths of the Auld Well in the forest and encounters a Healslime named Healie. The MFamilies wants to become human, and asks to follow Ragnar--the soldier is also guided by a mysterious voice to a treasure chest containing a pair of fabled Talaria that allow him to reach the summit of the Loch Tur and rescue the children.

Treasures
In DQ4 Chapter 5, the town's inhabitants witness Rose's psychic cries for help every night in the form of dreams; the Party 4 can experience them as well by staying at the local inn. The reason for these dreams appearing in a place so distant from Rose's location is because the village was originally a colony for Elves before humans came and occupied it, becoming the town seen in the game.
