Its chance to stun enemies is the same as VI's. In the Nintendo 3DS version, Luminaries wear top hats, suits, and ruffled skirts similar to the outfits from Dragon Quest IX. In order to become a Druid, one must master both the Sage and Luminary vocations.

Luminary is an advanced vocation that is not available at the start of the game, requiring players to complete a quest first in the postgame. It is the only vocation that requires players to clear the game first. The most charming of vocations, it is not uncommon for them to stun even bosses with their jaw-dropping style and charm.
Luminary | To unlock the Luminary vocation, you must complete Quest #118: A Star is Born. To start the quest, head to the dance hall in Gleeba and speak to Applaudia. She wants you to defeat a Moai minstrel with the Minstrel's Hot Lick skill. Since moai minstrels can only be found starting from rank 8 cave and water-type grottoes, it may take some time to complete unless the player happens to receive the right treasure map from someone else.
===Stats=== | Luminaries have poor Strength and Resilience, requiring them to rely on powerful weapon abilities from other vocations or utilise their support skills. They learn the full range of Woosh spells and some healing magic. The amount of armour they can equip is quite broad, ranging from suits of armour to robes.

The Luminary was added to the game in the Version 1.2 update. They specialise in debilitating the enemy in different ways, such as stunning, confusing, and putting them to sleep, and they have access to the entire line of Woosh spells. Luminaries can equip Whips, Fans, Wands, and Shields, as well as Scythes starting with the Version 5.0 update. Some of their unique abilities require the use of gold instead of MP. In online play, the vocation is often abbreviated to [スパ] or [スパスタ]

Known as Superstar in this title, it's a very supportive vocation. It can be unlocked after leveling Dancer and Ranger to level 50. Superstars can equip whips, boomerangs, bows, daggers, and fans.
These idols can heal their allies with Hustle Dance and speed-up the skills of all party members with the On-Stage skill. However, this skill requires not getting hurt to be useful, so it's advice to have a Paladin protect the Superstar at all times.
Getting Superstar to level 99 is one of the requirements to unlock the Ultrastar vocation.
===DQWalk=== | |||
Luminaries were added to the game in the October 2020 update. A character must have first reached level 50 in the Dancer and Gadabout vocations to unlock the Luminary, and their weapons of choice are Knives, Staves, Whips, and Boomerangs. A banner was held from October 9th, 2020 to November 26th, 2020 with special equipment based on the Luminary's design for the game. The vocation's design is quite unique for the series, with the characters wearing flashy, modern-style street fashion and multicoloured hair like pop idols.

The Luminary (スーパースター, Sūpāsutā?, lit. Superstar) or Superstar is an intermediate vocation in the series, focusing more on jaw-dropping style than fighting. These performers offer great support to their allies.
Description[edit | edit source]
The Luminary supports the party with maneuvers such as the Hustle Dance, and disables enemies with moves such as Dazzleflash or Scandal Eyes. Luminaries also have the ability to bewitch a monster with their stunning good looks--in VI and VII this is due to an innate vocation trait that improves with their rank, and from IX onward it is dependent on their high Charm stat.
Beyond from having the highest style of any vocation, the Luminaries have very poor stat growth and will depend on other party members to handle enemies. They are a support profession first and foremost.
Appearances[edit | edit source]
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit | edit source]
Luminaries have a great deal of Style and some unique skills. A character needs to master both the Dancer and Gadabout vocations to become a Luminary. Additionally, a Luminary can randomly charm an enemy for one turn once their rank beings to rise. Contrary to popular belief, Style has no influence on this chance.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]

This time, Luminaries (known as Teen Idols in the original Sony PlayStation version) require the Troubadour vocation to be mastered to be unlocked, along with Dancer and Jester, but aside from that there are no significant changes to the vocation. Its chance to stun enemies is the same as VI's. In the Nintendo 3DS version, Luminaries wear top hats, suits, and ruffled skirts similar to the outfits from Dragon Quest IX. In order to become a Druid, one must master both the Sage and Luminary vocations.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]

| Game | Description |
| All-singing, all-dancing entertainers who bring glitz and glamour to the stage of battle and favour fans, whips and boomerangs.[1] |
Luminary is an advanced vocation that is not available at the start of the game, requiring players to complete a quest first in the postgame. It is the only vocation that requires players to clear the game first. The most charming of vocations, it is not uncommon for them to stun even bosses with their jaw-dropping style and charm.
To unlock the Luminary vocation, you must complete Quest #118: A Star is Born.
Luminaries have poor Strength and Resilience, requiring them to rely on powerful weapon abilities from other vocations or utilise their support skills. They learn the full range of Woosh spells and some healing magic. The amount of armour they can equip is quite broad, ranging from suits of armour to robes.

The Luminary was added to the game in the Version 1.2 update. Luminaries can equip Whips, Fans, Wands, and Shields, as well as Scythes starting with the Version 5.0 update. Some of their unique abilities require the use of gold instead of MP. In online play, the vocation is often abbreviated to [スパ (Supa, スパ?)] or [スパスタ (Supasuta, スパスタ?)]

Dragon Quest of the Stars[edit | edit source]
Known as Superstar in this title, it's a very supportive vocation. It can be unlocked after leveling Dancer and Ranger to level 50. Superstars can equip whips, boomerangs, bows, daggers, and fans.
These idols can heal their allies with Hustle Dance and speed-up the skills of all party members with the On-Stage skill. However, this skill requires not getting hurt to be useful, so it's advice to have a Paladin protect the Superstar at all times.
Getting Superstar to level 99 is one of the requirements to unlock the Ultrastar vocation.
Dragon Quest Walk[edit | edit source]
Luminaries were added to the game in the October 2020 update. A character must have first reached level 50 in the Dancer and Gadabout vocations to unlock the Luminary, and their weapons of choice are Knives, Staves, Whips, and Boomerangs. A banner was held from October 9th, 2020 to November 26th, 2020 with special equipment based on the Luminary's design for the game. The vocation's design is quite unique for the series, with the characters wearing flashy, modern-style street fashion and multicoloured hair like pop idols.
