Kalderasha
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
Title Fortune Teller
Race Human

Kalderasha is a fortune teller and provides the Hero and Yangus with their first quest in Dragon Quest VIII.

Story[edit | edit source]

Kalderasha's skill had been greatly diminished since discarding his original crystal ball in the Waterfall Cave after betraying his friend, Master Rylus. At his daughter Valentina's request, the party retrieve the crystal ball from the cave, allowing Kalderasha to regain the skill and confidence he once lost.

At one point, the party visits him to gain a lead on the Moonshadow harp. He points them to the Castle of Ascantha.

After they retrieve their own ship, Kalderasha points the party to a continent to the west and a town with a big casino.

Upon searching for means of flight, Kalderasha gets a vague sight, telling the party to sail until they find a tunnel.

If Kalderasha is visited in the Nintendo 3DS version upon defeating Evil Jessica, the fortuneteller will reveal the events leading to Dhoulmagus stealing the Scepter from Trodain Castle and murdering the first of the Seven Sages, Rylus.

He will also point the party back to Neos after the rise of the Black Citadel, setting up the events leading up to the Altar of Wroth.
