The Cosmic chimaera is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in the original game. It is a powerful and pink-feathered variant of the Chimaera.
Cosmic chimaeras are the most powerful of the scaled vultures, covered in loud pink plumage. Their bodies are coloured magenta with a cream-colored underside and head, a fringe of white or light pink feathers around its throat, and feathers in various shades of pink on its wings. Their magic is more advanced than the Hocus chimaera's and their flames are blisteringly hot, enough for a group of them to be a serious threat to unprepared parties. Though the reference to space in their name was originally just to signify their strength, the Cosmic chimaeras have since been a source for Lucida shards.
Cosmic chimaeras appeared from the beginning of the game. Like its previous appearance, it can cast Multiheal to heal itself and fellow monsters and can breathe out both Inferno and Scorch. In Version 1.3, it gained a rarefied version in the form of the Lunar chimaera.
These chimaera are the toughest of their kind. They are highly-valued for their loyalty by the potentates of monsterkind and are often offered high-flying roles in monster management
These winged wonders use their star status to coax comrades into flinging themselves headlong into the fray. Some say they were born in a volcano, and judging by their baking breath, that doesn't seem so hard to believe.

Cosmic chimaera appears as an A-rank monster of the Nature family as part of the original Dragon Quest event alongside the Dragonlord on his banner. Starting with Version 2.0 of the game, it could also be scouted from any limited banner, as well. The Cosmic chimaera can also participate in the Dragon Quest I event and Jade's Battle Roads as a party member.
