Dread dragons are immense quadrupedal and wingless dragons that are covered in red scales with a light yellow underbelly. In its original appearance, the dread dragon had blue scales running down its back and tail and blue frills on the side of its head, but in later appearance, the frills and scales changed to a shade of dark pink instead. It is the mightiest quadrupedal dragon in the entire combined lands of the Erdrick trilogy. Along with despair-inducing stamina and strength, the Dread dragon can also cast simple magic. Although the dread dragon has made regular appearances in spinoff games, it did not make a return in the main series until XI like many other classic monsters, though it also reappeared in X retroactively. It's said that it eats its 11 siblings after being hatched.
Retroactively making their main series return from 6.4 onwards, they are first encountered in Chaotic Nagaland and breathe a mean Scorch, while continuously biting and retaining the ability to cast Snooze and Fizzle.
These are the last descendants of the most ancient clans of dragonkind. Once considered sacred, they were drawn to darkness and the divine spark within them was snuffed out forever
Fiery both figuratively and factually, they let out a blood-curdling roar before flame-grilling their foes. These walking furnaces have melted many an adventurer's arms and armour, leaving them egregiously under-equipped.

The dread dragon appears as a S-rank monster of the Dragon family, appearing on its own banner alongside knight abhorrent. It was eventually added to the normal pool and could be recruited from any banner.
