Holy Protection
Holy Protection (or Repel in NES version) is a spell in the Dragon Quest series. It repels weaker enemies, checking the player's current level to calculate which enemies are kept at bay.

Dragon Quest
The spell is learned at level 15, and costs 2 MP to cast.
Dragon Quest II
Learned by the Princess of Moonbrooke at level 8, and still costs 2 MP.
Dragon Quest III
Learned by the Hero at level 19, and requires 4 MP to cast.
Dragon Quest IV
Holy Protection is available to the Hero at level 12 and is already known by Psaro upon joining.

Dragon Quest VI
This spell is granted at the first rank of the Ranger vocation.
Dragon Quest VII
Repel is learned by advancing to rank 5 of the Bard class. In the 3DS version, Holy Protection is learned at rank 7 of the Thief vocation.
Dragon Quest VIII
The Hero learns this spell after investing 40 points into his "Courage" skill.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Holy protection doesn't appear in IX, but the effect can be emulated with holy water and the Vanish skill.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age
The Hero will learn the spell for 8 points in his Luminary skill tree. It costs 2 MP to cast, and will ward off monsters for 30 seconds. The spell's calculation is slightly tweaked, raising the hero's level by 10 when frightening foes.
