The Platinum mail is armour in the series.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
A beautiful suit of armour forged from curved plates of platinum, with ornate gold sections on the breastplate, shoulders, waist, and tassets. It is designed to help protect the wearer from attack spells and in some games, gives a boost to the wearer's style or charm.
- The design from Dragon Quest IX is based instead on the silver mail since it serves as the fully-upgraded form of it. The breastplate, pauldrons, and tasset are made from highly-polished platinum with gold details.
- The platinum mail from Dragon Quest Tact is based on the design of the Iron armour top from Dragon Quest X.

The Platinum mail has a Defence bonus of +66, a Style bonus of +51, and reduces damage taken from Frizz, Sizz, Crack, Woosh, and Bang spells by 15. It can be equipped by the Hero, Carver, Terry, Amos, Lizzie, and Goowain. It can be purchased for 3,500 tokens as a prize from the Casino at Port Haven or Turnscote. One suit can be found in a treasure chest at Howcastle behind a door that requires the Ultimate key to open.
- If a character has the Platinum sword, Platinum shield, Platinum mail, and Platinum headgear equipped when being ranked for the Best Dressed Contest at the Château de Sass, they will gain an extra +50 bonus to Style.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]
The Platinum mail has a Defence bonus of +63, a Style bonus of +51, and reduces damage taken from Frizz, Sizz, Crack, Woosh, and Bang spells by 15. It can be equipped by the Hero, Kiefer, and Aishe. It can be received as a prize if a male character wins the Style category of the Excellence Grading Organisation at El Ciclo. The armour has a 1⁄128 chance of being dropped by Alarmour.
- If a character has the Platinum sword, Platinum shield, Platinum mail, and Platinum headgear equipped when being ranked for the Style category of the Excellence Grading Organisation, they will gain an extra +30 bonus to Style.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined[edit | edit source]
The Platinum mail has a Defence bonus of +73, a Charm bonus of +43, and reduces elemental damage taken by 12%. It can be equipped by the Hero and Aishe. The armour can be purchased for 14,000 gold from the Sea Dragon, Nottagen in both the past and present, and Rucker during the second visit to the past, and sold for 7,000 gold. It can be dropped rarely by Alarmour. Platinum mail is a 3♦ prize from the Lucky Panel at Pilgrim's Rest after the Demon King's resurrection.

In the Sony PlayStation 2 and mobile versions, it has a 1⁄128 chance of being dropped by a Hell's gatekeeper. The armour can be sold for 4,900 gold.

The Platinum Mail is A-rank armour with a DEF bonus of +16, increases the wearer's Physical Res by 8%, and has three slots for Alchemy Effects. It can only be equipped by Attack and Defence units. The armour can be purchased up to five times monthly from the Individual Tournament Medal Swap Shop for 400 medals.The armour has three slots for Alchemy Effects.
