Localization History
Localization History
Begiragon had previously been localized as Kasizzle until XI, with the localized name being passed on to Giragrade and the former being redubbed as Kasizz. In other words, the Japanese games received new fourth-tier spells with new names and the English localizations gained new third-tier spells.
The Japanese spell Begiragon had previously been localized as Kasizzle, as it had no higher-tier Sizz variant. However, with DQMJ2, they added a higher-tier being ギラグレイド Giragureido. To work around this, they renamed this spell Kasizz, and let the Kasizzle naming for the newer one.

In the series, Hadlar describes Kasizz as his greatest spell, with Popp having knowledge of it and being terrified of the spell's destructive power. Hadlar first casts it against both him and Maam on Valge Island. When he casts it, Hadlar gathers intense heat energy in his hands, which arcs above his head, then he fires it off from his index fingers with his fists clenched. In the 1991 anime, it is depicted a beam of intense white light, while in the 2020 anime, Hadlar gathers crackling golden energy in his hands that he fires off as a beam of heat and light. Later on, Matoriv casts Kasizz against Hadlar as well, who becomes appalled that humans are able to cast the spell.

AHB
Kasizz appeared as a Special Move for Hadlar and the Luminary Leader. It is a long-range attack over a wide area that inflicted magical Fire damage five times and raised all allies' Fire damage temporarily by 30%. In this game, the spell's animation was closer to its manga depiction, with the caster gathering flames and sending out flames from their hands rather than the crackling energy beam from the anime.

The main way to unlock the skill was by obtaining the Scorching Staff from limited Treasure Hunts.

Kasizz is a spell first introduced in Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation. As with the other Sizz spells, it roasts a group of enemies in roaring flames. It is related to the spells Sizz, Sizzle, and Kasizzle.

Localization History[edit | edit source]

The Japanese spell Begiragon had previously been localized as Kasizzle, as it had no higher-tier Sizz variant. However, with Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2, they added a higher-tier being ギラグレイド Giragureido. To work around this, they renamed this spell Kasizz, and let the Kasizzle naming for the newer one.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit | edit source]

Learned by Mages and Sages at level 29, Kasizzle hits one group of enemies for 12 MP, and deals between 88~112 damage.

Hardy hands use this spell against the party.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]

Kasizz is learned by Mages and Sages at level 29 if their wisdom exceeds 125, and by the Hero at level 32 if his or her wisdom is also higher than 125. Kasizz costs 12 MP and deals up to 114~158 damage to one group of foes. As with all multi-targeting attack spells Kasizz's power is increased if it is used against a smaller number of foes, being 130% damage against a single monster, 120% against two monsters, and 110% damage when used on three monsters.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit | edit source]

Kasizzle is learned by Maya Mahabala at level 27. It costs 10 MP to cast, and deals between 88~112 points of damage.

The enemies prince of darkness, joojoo gooroo, and (in the remakes) prism peacock and croaked king can use this spell against the party.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit | edit source]

Hits one group for 10 MP, hitting for 88~112.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit | edit source]

The enemies hirsute hexer, spiegel, and demon-at-arms use this spell against the party.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]

In the original Sony PlayStation version, Kasizzle can be learned by Armamentalists at rank 7, Prism peacocks at rank 2, and Black bishops at rank 3.

It can be cast by the enemies infernal kernel, mirror grimage, Baron von Bellycose, Sulkk, croaked king, prism peacock, and lumberdrak.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit | edit source]

Kasizzle is a 10 MP spell learned by the Eight at level 32, while Jessica Albert learns the spell from Dominico after the events at Arcadia. It initially deals between 70 and 90 until their Wisdom hits 180, and caps at 150~170 once their Wisdom surpasses 480.

 • In the 3DS port, Kasizzle's base damage was increased to 80~100, and the maximum range was raised to 175~195 which requires a Wisdom of 540 to reach.

It is also used by Fallen priest, the second form of Dhoulmagus, Evil Jessica, Jabberwockee, Merking, Statue of Jessica, the Lord of the Dragovians in his Golden and Darksteel forms, Geyzer in Memoriam, Tortured Soul in Memoriam, Evil Jessica in Memoriam, and Dhoulmagus in Memoriam.

This can be achieved through liberal application of buff spells and abilities. The spell costs 21 MP to cast, and will fire in a straight line from the conjurer for ten meters.

 • In the Offline version of the game, Kasizz can also be learned by Fuura at level 49. Its target range has returned to affecting a single group of enemies due to the change in battle system.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

The Luminary and Veronica will learn Kasizz at level 40 and 38, respectively. The spell costs 16 MP to cast and will deal a base range of 100~116. The spell starts to increase in power once the caster's Magical Might is 227 before capping at 216~232 once at 362 Magical Might. Called Firebolt in this game, it is an upgraded form of Firebane. Firebane grows into Firebolt when the monster reaches level 26 with 96 MP and 122 Intelligence. It is naturally learned by Hargon.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2[edit | edit source]

Firebolt now requires 220 Intelligence to learn. It is no longer naturally learned by Hargon.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2[edit | edit source]

Kasizz's base range is 66~72, and the maximum cap is 172~178. The follower skillsets teach the spell to a monster:

Kasizz is the third tier spell of Maya and can be learned by investing 16 skill points. By charging her Sizzle spell for a short time, she can cast Kasizz for 17 MP, creating two powerful serpentine pillars of flame that zig-zag on the ground in front of her.

 • Like all of Maya Mahabala's spells, she is able to cast it in midair if she has learned Soaring Sizzler for 5 skill points.

Dragon Quest Heroes II[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest Tact[edit | edit source]

Kasizz can be learned by Rickerd at level 38 and by Dracky and Tortured soul through Talent Blossoming. It costs 108 MP to cast, has a range of three squares in front of the caster, and inflicts major Sizz-type spell damage to all enemies in a range of three squares horizontally. Upgrading the spell increases its damage and reduces the amount of MP it costs to cast.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds[edit | edit source]

Kasizz appeared as a Special Move for Hadlar and the Luminary Leader. It is a long-range attack over a wide area that inflicted magical Fire damage five times and raised all allies' Fire damage temporarily by 30%. In this game, the spell's animation was closer to its manga depiction, with the caster gathering flames and sending out flames from their hands rather than the crackling energy beam from the anime.

The main way to unlock the skill was by obtaining the Scorching Staff from limited Treasure Hunts.
