The Dragon mail has a Defence bonus of +45, reduces damage from fire breath by 33.3%, and can only be equipped by the Hero and Warriors. The damage reduction does not stack with any other elemental protection. It can be purchased for 9,800 gold at the Immigrant Town in its final stage, Tantegel, Damdara, and Kol and sold for 7,350 gold. It has a 1⁄128 chance of being dropped by King Hydra.

The Dragon mail has a Defence bonus of +45, reduces damage taken from fire and ice breath by 33.3%, and can only be equipped by the Hero and Ragnar. It can be purchased for 5,200 gold from Canalot, Rosehill, Riverton, and the Azimuth. It has a 1⁄256 chance of being dropped by Abullddon.
- In remake versions, it now only reduces damage taken from fire and ice breath by 20. It can also be equipped by the ninth party member and can be purchased from the 5th stage of the Pioneer Town.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride edit
The Dragon mail has a Defence bonus of +50, reduces damage taken from fire breath by 10, and can be equipped by the Hero, his Son, Tuppence, Slime knight, Restless armour, Blizzybody, Warhog, Moosifer, Pip fighter, Conkuistador, Samigina, Hawk man, Mandrake marshal, Hyperanemon, and Revaulting horse. It can only be purchased for 7,500 from Gotha and sold for 3,750 gold.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation edit
The Dragon mail has a Defence bonus of +60, a Style bonus of +37, and reduces damage taken from fire attacks by 15. It can be equipped by the Hero, Carver, Terry, Amos, Lizzie, and Goowain. It is part of Terry's initial equipment when he joins the party. The armour can be purchased for 12,000 gold from Turnscote, the Secret Shop, Felonia, and the Weaver's Peak of the Lower World, and it can be sold for 9,000 gold.
- If the dragon mail is equipped with Dragonsbane and Dragon shield for the Best-Dressed Contest at the Château de Sass, the wearer will gain an extra +15 bonus to Style. It can be reworked at the Fashion Forge for 2,000 gold, boosting its Style bonus to +72. Once it has been reworked, it can be sold for 9,375 gold.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past edit
The Dragon mail has a Defence bonus of +60, a Style bonus of +37, and reduces fire damage taken by 15. It can be equipped by the Hero, Kiefer, and Aishe. The armour can be purchased for 15,000 gold from Vogograd in the present and Buccanham and sold for 7,500 gold. Dragon mail can also be won as a prize from the Lucky Panel at the Pilgrim's Rest Casino in the original Sony PlayStation version and from Buccanham's Casino. If it is worn with the dragon shield and dragonsbane when being ranked for the Style ranking of the Excellence Grading Organisation, the wearer will receive an extra +15 bonus to Style.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, dragon's mail can be received as a reward for clearing a custom Traveller's Tablet with a Blazing wingwyrm, Weighvern, Wide-load weighvern, or Grotwyrm as a boss.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined edit
The Dragon mail has a Defence bonus of +69, reduces damage taken from fire and ice by 20%, and can be equipped by the Hero and Aishe. It can be purchased for 12,000 gold from Buccanham in the present and sold for 6,000 gold. One suit can be found in a treasure chest on B2F of the Coral Cave in the present and it can be dropped by Seasaur. Dragon mail is a 3♦ prize from the Lucky Panel at Pilgrim's Rest after the Demon King's resurrection.
