The | The she-slime is the first pallet swap monster in the DQSeries. Introduced in the very first game, they are orange, ever-so-slightly-stronger slimes.
==Characteristics== | ==Characteristics==
Despite the name, the orange slimes' sexes are as | Despite the name, the orange slimes' sexes are as ambigoous as those of regular globs and the nomenclature is meant to evoke real life species of animals such as ladybugs.
The change from the older | The change from the older red slime localisation name is due to the advancement of modern hardware with more colour shades available than what the graphical limitations of the NES allowed, with the globs being more of an orange shade than red. According to some games, the she-slimes are a different color than ordinary slimes due to an uncommon genetic mutation; this relative rarity has led them to be referred to as "don't-often-see-slimes". In some games, such as VI and the Joker series, it is stated that she-slimes gained their red-orange colouration from their carnivorous diet. Their description in X and XI states that their bodies are slightly warmer to the touch than ordinary slimes.
Starting with Dragon Quest: Monster Parade, | Starting with Dragon Quest: Monster Parade, male she-slimes gained the ability to undergo slimification and form a king she-slime when eight gather together just like their blue and metallic cousins, with the ladies learning to congeal into princess slimes.

The she-slime is the first pallet swap monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in the very first game, they are orange, ever-so-slightly-stronger slimes.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Despite the name, the orange slimes' sexes are as ambigoous as those of regular globs and the nomenclature is meant to evoke real life species of animals such as ladybugs.
The change from the older red slime localisation name is due to the advancement of modern hardware with more colour shades available than what the graphical limitations of the NES allowed, with the globs being more of an orange shade than red.
Starting with Dragon Quest: Monster Parade, male she-slimes gained the ability to undergo slimification and form a king she-slime when eight gather together just like their blue and metallic cousins, with the ladies learning to congeal into princess slimes.
