Whistle is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series.

It is used to instantly call for a random monster and engage it in a battle.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit | edit source]

In the Game Boy Color remake, it is learned by the Gadabout vocation at level 13.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit | edit source]

In the remakes, Torneko Taloon learns this at level 12.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit | edit source]

Learned by Sancho at level 24.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit | edit source]

Whistle is learned by advancing to rank 2 of the Gadabout vocation.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]

Learned by reaching rank 5 of the Shepherd vocation.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit | edit source]

Learned by Yangus after investing 4 points in to his Humanity skill tree.

This ability requires the monster to be at least level 4, with at least 28 MP, and 24 Intelligence. It is naturally learned by the GiantSlug, MadCandle, Slabbit and Watabou.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2[edit | edit source]

Whistle now requires 44 Intelligence to learn.
