Etymology[edit | edit source]

Beckon's Japanese name Neko Maneki (猫招き) is a reference to Maneki-neko, a common Japanese figurine of a cat depicted with its paw raised that is believed to bring good luck. They are seen holding a round koban gold coin from feudal Japan and are often displayed in shops, restaurants, laundromats, and other businesses near the entrance.
