Appearances

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation

Forbearance is learned by Carver at level 18. Other characters can learn it by advancing to rank 6 of the Paladin vocation.

  • In the SFC version it was possible to protect the entire party from magical damage if the user of Forbearance had Bounce cast upon them, but this is no longer possible in the DS and smart phone versions.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past

Forbearance is learned via the Paladin vocation as before.

  • In the 3DS remake Paladins will learn Forbearance at rank 5 instead of 6. The Champion vocation will learn it at rank 1, and the Golem vocation at rank 3. This remake prevents the Bounce trick from being applied just like in VI's remake.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Forbearance is learned by Hendrik through his Fraternity path for 16 points. Because of the prerequisites for unlocking Fraternity, Forbearance can only be learned in Act 3.

Hendrik also uses this ability when he is a non-playable ally during the battle against Mordegon in Heliodor Castle, taking lots of pressure off the official party members and making the fight much easier. Interestingly enough, it is impossible for Hendrik to know Forbearance when he rejoins the party soon afterward, as the Fraternity skill path cannot be unlocked until later on.

Dragon Quest Treasures

Forebearance draws in the attention of all enemies in battle for a limited time and costs 3 MP to use. it is learned by Glacial golems, Glyphic golems, Gold golems, Golems, and Ruby golems.
