Rain of Pain is a recurring bow technique in the Dragon Quest series. It launches 3-4 arrows at random targets, with each hit dealing 50% of a normal attack.
Appearances
Dragon Quest VIII
Known as Multishot in this game, it can be learned by investing 44 skill points into Angelo's Bow skill and costs 4 MP to use. It can also be used by Bodkin bowyers.
Dragon Quest IX
This ability is learned with 58 skill points allocated into Bow skill and costs 4 MP to use.
Dragon Quest X
This ability can be learned by Rangers, Armamentalists, Sages, and Item Masters by allocating 76 points into the Bow skill. It costs 6 MP to use.
Dragon Quest XI
Rain of Pain is an enemy-only skill that can be used by Bodkin bowyers and Overkilling machines.
Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below
Rain of Pain can be learned by Bianca by spending 6 skill points and costs 12 MP to use. It shoots several arrows charged with yellow energy that will track an enemy, even if they are in midair.
- Rain of Pain can be upgraded with the skill Rain of Pain Redux, which costs 8 skill points to learn. By holding the Triangle button when Rain of Pain is being performed, it will allow the attack to target multiple monsters instead of just one.
