Umbral Wave is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series. It sends out bursts of dark energy from the user's weapon.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds
Umbral Wave appeared as a skill for Larhart and the Luminary Leader as a Hero if they are wielding a spear. It is a mid-range attack that inflicted physical Shadow damage three times over a small area and lowered the target's Shadow Resistance temporarily when using a counterattack. The main way to unlock the skill was by playing during Larhart's A Loyal Land Rider's Pledge event or from the Shop Exchange.
Dragon Quest Tact
Umbral Wave can be learned by Viking soul at level 24 and costs 38 MP to use. It inflicts 175% potency Zam-type physical damage and has a chance to curse all enemies in a small fan-shaped area of effect in front of the user.
