List of status effects in Dragon Quest Smash/Grow
The ailments and temporary effects listed in this page appear in Dragon Quest Smash/Grow.
Buffs and Debuffs edit
These are temporary modifications to the character's abilities during battle. Beneficial effects are known as "buffs", while negative effects are known as "debuffs". Generally, debuffs have the opposite effect to buffs. They can be categorized un four types in Smash/Grow:
- Stats Buffs and Debuffs: Temporary modifications to a character's basic stats. Buffs increase the stats while debuffs decrease them. The following stats can be modified:
- Attack
- Defence
- Magical Might
- Magical Defence
- Damage dealt: The following buffs and debuffs modify the damage dealt, by damage type:
- Increased / Decreased damage dealt (all types)
- Increased / Decreased physical damage dealt
- Increased / Decreased magical damage dealt
- Increased / Decreased breath damage dealt
- Defence and resistances: Temporary modifications to damage taken and elemental resistances:
- Reduced damage taken from enemies (all types) / Increased damage taken from enemies (all types)
- Reduced physical damage taken from enemies / Increased physical damage taken from enemies
- Reduced magical damage taken from enemies / Increased magical damage taken from enemies
- Reduced breath damage taken from enemies / Increased breath damage taken from enemies
- Increased / Reduced resistance to all elemental damage types
- Increased / Reduced resistance to fire damage
- Increased / Reduced resistance to ice damage
- Increased / Reduced resistance to lightning damage
- Increased / Reduced resistance to wind damage
- Increased / Reduced resistance to earth damage
- Increased / Reduced resistance to light damage
- Increased / Reduced resistance to dark damage
- Other effects: Effects under this category include:
- Increased attack speed / Decreased attack speed
- Increased movement speed / Decreased movement speed
- Increased recovery boost
- Higher critical hit rate chance
- Higher critical spell chance
- Improved dodge rate
Status Ailments edit
The negative effects that characters might suffer in battle are the following:
- Paralysis: Temporarily immobilises the target.
- Freeze: Temporarily immobilises the target.
- Sleep: Temporarily immobilises the target.
- Poison: Inflicts continuous damage for a set period.
- Burn: Inflicts continuous damage for a set period.
- Bedazzlement: Temporarily lowers attack accuracy. Note that this ailment affects both physical and magical attacks in this game.
- Charm: Temporarily befuddles the target, preventing them from taking any actions and slowly but forcibly luring them towards the opponent that charmed them.
- Spell Lock: Temporarily prevents the target from using spell-based attacks.
The resistances to these ailments can be raised with equipment and memories.
Blessings and echantments edit
Blessings are enchantments are passive boosts that can be acquired in dungeons in Smash/Grow. For further details, see Blessings.
Stage hazards edit
Stages contain a variety of hazards that inclict damage or ailments to those who step on them or enter their range. Monsters are generally immune to these traps.
- Pools of Poison: Inflict damage at regular intervals, as if the character had been poisoned.
- Icy Floors: They can freeze characters.
- Floor Traps: Inflict damage at regular intervals. If the character steps on them while the spikes are hidden, they will not receive damage.
- Breath Statues: They deal damage at regular intervals to anyone in front of them. They are generally activated when someone steps in front of them.
- Miasma: Deals damage at regular intervals when touched.
- Lasers: Deals damage to anyone in the line of fire.
