Harvest Moon is an ability in the series.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
This ability is an acrobatic martial arts technique that deals damage to all enemies, decreasing if there are multiple enemies. In later games, it only targets a single enemy and deals greater damage to floating enemies.
Appearances[edit | edit source]
Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]
Harvest Moon costs 8 MP to use and damages all enemies. The damage is calculated as Normal attack damage x 3 ÷ (Number of enemies + 1), dealing strike-type damage and decreasing with the number of enemies in battle. It is learned naturally by the Princess of Moonbrooke at level 32 and by the Prince of Cannock by using the Harvest Moon Scroll, which is found in a treasure chest on 2F of the Tower of the Moon.
- When the Princess of Moonbrooke's HP is below 50% or she is under the effects of Dodgy Dance, the Souped-Up Skill Miracle Moon becomes available to use by holding down a button, depending on which version of the game is being played. The player must have the Soul Sigil in their possession to use it.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]
Harvest Moon costs 8 MP to use, launching an attack that damages all enemies. The damage is calculated as Normal attack damage x 3 ÷ (Number of enemies + 1), dealing strike-type damage and decreasing with the number of enemies in battle. It is learned by Gadabouts starting at level 32 if their Wisdom exceeds 63 points.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit | edit source]
Harvest Moon appears in remake versions of the game, dealing damage to all enemies at no MP cost. The damage is calculated as Normal attack damage x 3 ÷ (Number of enemies + 1), decreasing with the amount of enemies in the battle. It is also known by 9th Chosen One at level 35 when he joins the party. On the enemy side, it can be used by Knightshade and Div who both only appear in the Fungeon.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit | edit source]
Harvest Moon is learned by advancing to rank 7 as a Luminary vocation and set the precedent of the Normal attack damage x 3 ÷ (1 + number of enemies) calculation. In the Nintendo DS remake the calculation has been changed to deal double-damage if one enemy is present instead of 150%. On the enemy side, it can be used by Jackal ripper, Berzorker, Dhuran, and Nokturnus.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]
| Game | Description |
| A leap followed by a fierce flurry of blows that damage all enemies.[3] |
Harvest Moon is learned by reaching rank 6 as a Luminary, rank 8 as a Jawtoise, rank 3 as a Delusionist, rank 6 as a Dingbat, and rank 4 as a Slaughtomation vocations. On the enemy side, it can be used by Bronson, Charmour, Harmour, Alarmour, Jawtoise, Frightbait, Dread herring, Knightshade, Dingbat, and Div.
- In the Nintendo 3DS remake, the skill is learned by Luminaries at rank 3 as well as rank 1 of the Druid vocation, now requiring 3 MP to use. Damage to one enemy has been raised to double as with the remake of VI.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit | edit source]
| Game | Description |
| Hits all enemies with a series of cartwheels and backflips.[4] |
Harvest Moon costs 6 MP to use and damages all enemies, with the damage once again calculated as Normal attack damage x 3 ÷ (1 + number of enemies). It is a fisticuffs ability that can be learned by Jessica and Angelo. It requires 45 skill points for Jessica and 42 skill points for Angelo.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, Red also learns Harvest Moon by investing 60 skill points into her Fisticuffs skill.
Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]
Harvest Moon is learned by investing 60 skill points into the Fisticuffs skill. It costs 2 MP to use and deals 30% more damage to a single enemy, inflicting an additional 20% damage to floating enemies. The animation for performing it is similar to a somersault kick in fighting games.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]
Jade can learn Harvest Moon for 6 skill points through the Fisticuffs panel of her Character Builder, located close to the center. It costs 3 MP to use and deals 250% damage to floating monsters, 130% damage to all other enemies.
Dragon Quest Heroes II[edit | edit source]
Harvest Moon is a normal attack that can be used by Angelo or by Lazarel and Teresa if they are equipped with a bow. The user quickly performs a series of acrobatic backflips that strikes enemies and sends them flying, as well as putting some distance between them. It can be performed twice in a row and can be used to fire off a flurry of arrows in a wide volley if the attack button is pressed at the end of the animation.
| Game | Description |
| A super-swift set of backward somersaults that can be performed up to two times in a row.[5] |

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Harvest Moon's original name refers to the tsukahara, a type of vault in gymnastics that consists of a half turn off the springboard onto the vault table, then a push backwards into a back salto or layout. It was named after Japanese gymnast Mitsuo Tsukahara. In Japanese, it is known as a "moonsault". A moonsault also refers to a technique in professional wrestling, attempted from the top rope of the ring, where the wrestler faces away from a supine opponent and executes a backflip landing on them. It was popularised in both American and Japanese wrestling by wrestler Keiji Muto.
- A harvest moon refers to the full moon closest to the autumn equinox when the moon rises the latest and lowest in the sky and seems to appear the biggest.
