Backdraft deflects one incoming breath attack.

Backdraft is a recurring support skill. After being used, it will reflect a single breath attack back to the caster.

Backdraft is learned by mastering the Ranger vocation. It sets up a vortex that deflects incoming breath skills, and activates before any other skill in the game--even Double Up.
Backdraft was retroactively added to the 2024 remake and is learned at level 33 by Thieves if their wisdom exceeds 85 points. It costs 8 MP and reflects fire & ice breath attacks, but none of the status ailment-inducing breath skills. The effect lasts for 3~5 turns until an attack is reflected, and has a higher priority than normal abilities; specifically Backdraft triggers before all abilities save Kaclang, Defending Champion, Cop Out, Whipping Boy, Forbearance, and Mercurial Thrust in that order.
DQ6
The skill is learned by reaching rank 8 of the Ranger vocation. The skill works only once per use, fades after the hit, and covers only the user. In addition to all fire and ice breath attacks, Burning Breath, Poison Breath, Sweet Breath will be reflected as well. Venom Mist will not be blown back though, oddly.

In the SFC version none of the status ailment breath skills will be repelled, but Pyre o' Fire, Tidal Wave, Magma Blast, and Big Banga will be sent back to their source.

It is used by the enemies deadly dodo, low djinks, mechalomaniac, and Mortamor's left hand.

DQ7
Backdraft is learned by reaching rank 2 of the Pirate, and 4 of the Hero, rank 7 of the Vigilantern, and rank 3 of the Prism Peacock vocations.

It functions identically to the version seen in the DS remake of VI.

The passive vocation trait of the Prism Peacock activates Backdraft at the start of each turn, with the chance reaching it's cap of 12.5% (1) at rank 8.

It can be used by the enemies high djinks, djinn genie, and the Wind Spirit.

DQ10
Backdraft appears as an ability exclusive to animal allies. It covers all allies for 60 seconds, dissipates after the first hit, and is learned by the chimaera, mecha-mynah, and small fry.

DQM
The skill reflects all fire and ice breath skills, status ailment breath skills, and Venom Mist for 6 MP. It requires the MFamilies to be at least level 11, with 75 HP, 84 Resilience, and 70 Agility to learn.
Jamirus, madhornet, madraven, firebird, pteranod, and wingslime all naturally learn the skill.
*If a MFamilies's level reaches 19 and it has at least 140 HP, 126 Resilience, and 140 Agility, then Backdraft will upgrade into SuckAll. This improved skill covers the entire party and reflects a single enemy's breath attack to all enemies.

DQM2
Backdraft has the same aspects and learning requirements as before, and in addition to the previous MFamiliess it is also learned by the kitehawk and lampgenie.
