Bloomingdale is a port town in Dragon Quest IX.

It is located to the southwest of Dourbridge. It is the location where the Hero acquires a ship.

Bloomingdale can be reached as soon as the player reaches Slurry Quay. After arriving in town, the Hero learns that there is an unused ship in the harbor. On Stella's advice, the Hero goes to look at the ship and learns that it is owned by Marion Bloome. Going to speak with Ms. Bloome, the Hero learns that Marion's parents died some time ago and that she has been very generous ever since. However, while talking to Marion, she becomes very irate and throws the Hero 9}} out.

The Hero goes to Marion's former nurse and gets some advice about what to do. A former toy maker still lives in town and claims that Marion always used to speak to him even when she would not speak to others. He made a very special doll that looked like Marion. However, when the Hero returns to the mansion with him, they find a ransom note for Marion who has been taken to The Bad Cave.

The Hero then sees the ghost of Marion, which leads him/her to a secret graveyard behind the house. Here, the Hero learns that Marion was very sick as a child. Someone brought a Fygg to her hoping that it would heal her. Marion tried to give half of the Fygg to her doll, which then came to life as Marionette. Marion died shortly afterward and Marionette buried her with her parents in the secret graveyard. Marionette then took over the role of Marion to the townspeople.

The Hero must go to The Bad Cave in order to rescue Marionette and receive the ship.

Detail	Sister Cindy at the church in Bloomingdale wants you defeat a Blood mummy and retrieve a Dead man's dagger for her. She says she thinks a blood mummy somewhere in the Bowhole has it.
Hint for solution	The blood mummies must be fought at the Bowhole, a dungeon located in Western Wormwood. Defeating them will eventually drop the dagger.
