Den is a minor character in Dragon Quest Builders 2. He is the bartender of Khrumbul-Dun island, and is the father of Babs.

Appearance and Personality

Den is a middle-aged man with downturned olive eyes, tan skin, a large nose, rectangular eyebrows, chevron moustache and dark brown hair in the style dandy do. He is dressed in the typical bartender garb, a red bow tie, a white long-sleeved button-up shirt, and blue suspenders with gold side adjusters. He also wears black leather shoes.

Due to the passing of his late wife, he is very protective of Babs and is initially opposed to her following in her mother's footsteps as a bunny girl.

Den and his family owned the island's bar, enjoying prosperity as the miners retired to the pub after a long day's work. However, his wife passed away prior to the game's beginning, and due to the actions of the Madusa who rules the island destroying the profitability of the mine, his bar ceased operation. As such, Den is deeply dejected when first encountered and the Builder must rely on Babs for ideas on reviving the mining community.

Once the mining begins in earnest again, Den's passion for bartending returns and he resumes operations once the building is restored. He is the first character to explain how drink making works to the player, opening up access to several recipes for bolstering attack and defence in addition to sating the hunger meter. Later on, when the community pool and dancing stage are built, he argues with Babs about becoming the chief dancing bunny but relents when he sees how seriously she takes the task.

It is later revealed that the world that the Builder and Malroth are exploring is nothing but an illusion created by Hargon. Den is one of the illusions created to populate the illusory world.
